Septembers ends, Fall and October are upon us

30 September, 2011

Tomorrows begins October, the eighth month of the Roman Calendar and tenth of ours.  It seems the Romans had no special association for October beyond Autumn, but we have Halloween at the end, so  this month the Sea of Stars Design Journal will have Monsters as our theme as has become traditional for October.

If you have ideas for Monsters, let me know (here or in the sadly neglected forums) and I will try to make it happen.

Sweet Rice Village is usually as actually maintaining a temple to Onnotangu, Lord Moon, for according to the legend:

Back in ages past, in the dawning days of the Empire, a vast and powerful oni stalked the land and threatening to tear apart the land and let the sea flood the inner Empire.  But Onnotangu came down, cloaked by night and confronted the oni.  Lord Moon demanding that it leave the Empire and return to whence it came, when it did not, he slew the oni with one mighty blow, driving his body deep into the Earth.  The only marker of this is a small salt water spring bubbles out through the shrine and is used for ceremonial blessings.

New Magic Item – Fever Blade

28 September, 2011

His eyes glinted with madness or something else.  Demands for his surrender were met by increasing hysterical laughter from the swordsman.  As the combat progressed his style became increasingly erratic and risky but no less dangerous because of it.  He leap and rolled, stabbed and slashed.  Evading our blows until we finally corned him in a cemetery.

In the end we lost three men dead and two more badly wounded before we put him down.  As we bound our wounds

in the now failing rain, the blade of his sword seemed to be smiling at us.

The curved blades of these weapons often seem a pale red when the light catches them and they are always warm to the touch.  These weapons are usually unadorned though their grips are made of material which will ensure a firm grip.
