December Plans

30 November, 2009

November draws to a close and before us stretches December.  December is the tenth month of the Roman calendar and the beginning of Winter.   It is also a month filled with holidays.  So, the theme for this month on the Sea of Stars design journal will be gifts and festivals: magical gifts, divine gifts, cursed gifts, and more.

If there is a particular type of gift you would like to see, let me know and I will do my best to provide.

Found another file of old spells written for a now out of print d20 supplement, so I am going to tweak and rename them in the process of converting them over to Pathfinder.   Starting with a useful spell for armies or for cities:

Call to Arms

School transmutation [language-dependant]; Level Brd 2, Clr 3, Sor/Wiz 3

New Magic Item – Wasp Winged Crossbow

28 November, 2009

When the lead force of the Kantic Horde finally overran the position held by the Wasp Guard, after surviving a constant rain of lightning charged bolts that fell like hail, they found the detachment was only twelve men and none of them had a single sword blow on them . . . they had all died of exhaustion.

Wasp Winged Crossbow

These light crossbows are very compact with complex, but short, arms to the crossbow.  The weapon is made of black metal and wood with gilded fitting.  As it is loaded and fired it begins to buzz, the buzzing become louder and angrier the longer it is used in combat

Tuesday Magic Item – Scorpion Tail Whip

24 November, 2009

Continuing the insectish theme:

Like a living thing, the whip struck, carving through flesh and cloth.   With a cold word, the whip’s master made the weapon flicker with dark energy before lashing out with a killing blow.

Scorpion Tail Whip

This weapon is made from cunningly worked leather and metal to give the whip the appearance of a long scorpion’s tail the tip ending in a wickedly sharp hook.  The construction is very durable while retaining a considerable amount of flexibility.  The whip gives the illusion of being alive, moving and shifting on its own, especially when it is left coiled.

Catt and published by Fantastic Gallery.  This product is for mature audiences -with a ‘Not for Sale to Persons under the age of 18′ on the cover- due to its focus on matters involving sex and the erotic art (much of it also by T. Catt) used as illustrations.

Tuesday Magic Item – Soul Guardian Amulet

17 November, 2009

The amulet blazed with silvery light and the shadowy creatures shied from it, giving the wizard the moment he needed to banish them back to the underworld.

Soul Guardian

These amulets were made to defend the very spirit against the attacks of the undead and dark necrourgic magics.  They usually appear as a silver disc, one side blank and the other inscribed with protective sigils.

Secrets of Taren Kost – Interlude 1

16 November, 2009

We only ended up with a short time to play after catching up and having a delightful meal of homemade enchiladas (with Krispy Kream donuts for dessert, how very Southern).  So, it ended up being more of a staging post between adventures:

Interlude 1: Dresses, Dances and Hawks
