Into March, out of February

29 February, 2024

The name of March is drawn from the Roman month Martius which in turn gains its name from Mars, as you would expect.  Mars is the Roman god of war (and more a soldier’s god than a warrior as contrasted with his Greek counterpart Ares).  The theme for this march will be Soldiers and Warfare.  As usual, if there is anything, in particular, you would like to see, please let me know.  I will try to do something, spell or item, for the Equinox as well.

February 2024, saw the following post in the journal:

Tuesday Magic Item – Animal Gift Ring

27 February, 2024

Panther power activate!Gollaon watched the scout scamper up the wall, well, rather like a monkey.  “Well, that explains much,” they said.

Voddick, knowing his cue, “Yes?  Something unusual about our scout?  Besides their rather grabby nature at meals?”

“Indeed, they have been relying on magic that gives them the gift of animal abilities.”

“Ah,” said Voddick, “and it is rubbing off on them, making them like the animals whose gift.”

“Precisely,” said Gollaon.

Animal Gift Ring

Created in a variety of types, these rings are always decorated with one or more animals, sometimes stylized, sometimes not, and often are made of animal bone or ivory or at least include some material made from animals in their construction.  At least one was made of woven and braided hair from several species of animals.

Tuesday Magic Item – Wig of a Different Form

20 February, 2024

Voddick frowned, “Did not that courtier just have an entirely different hairstyle?  How did she change it so quickly?”

Gollaon looked.  “A magic wig perhaps?”

“That would explain it,” said Voddick.  “But was she not shorter before?

Gollaon looked again, “I think you may be right.  Keep an eye on her.  I am going to check on some things.”

Wig of a Different Form

These wigs are woven from actual humanoid hair taken from people who lived as other people such as actors, spies, and criminals melded together and the magic of the wig has turned the hair a uniform pale brown.

Tuesday Magic Item – Helm of the Guardians of the Queen

13 February, 2024

Serving the QueenGollaon watched the guard circle the queen with amazing precision and then fan out to the corners of the room.  Gollaon glanced to Voddick.

Voddick nodded and when to join his friend.

“I think we should decline employment here,” said Voddick.

“I agree,” replied Gollaon.  Then adding in a whisper, “How long before we are fighting on the other side.”

Helm of the Guardians of the Queen

These finely made helms are designed to both conceal and protect the wearer’s face and are decorated with polished bronze and gold, often inlaid with hexagonal patterns and the occasional heraldric device.  They are a little lighter in weight than one would suspect from their construction.   First made by a sorcerer-queen to protect her daughter and then improved upon by that daughter when she became queen.  The gold-etched helms have since become a symbol of tyranny and terror in several cultures and many were destroyed in the aftermath of the sorcerer-queen’s assassination.  But knowledge cannot be destroyed and new versions of these helms have been created.

6 February, 2024

To run, to fleeGollaon nodded slightly as something was confirmed and looked over to Voddick.

Voddick sidled closer to his friend.  “Yes?  Is it what you expected?

“Unfortunately, yes,” replied Gollaon.  “We cannot rely on the scout once combat has been joined.”

“I had feared as much.”

Rabbit Racer Amulet

February Shadowrun Campaign News and a new Seattle Scream Prop (#94)

2 February, 2024

RAMF!Hope the New Year has been treating you all well!  The next live game at Tyche’s Games will be on the third of February; we usually play every first Saturday and if you are in the area come and join in, new players are welcome.

January saw some Shadowrun play with me CHing the live game at Tyche’s and playing in a NorCal game which was super amusing and my character got to use some spells and magic abilities that she had never used before in-game.

I did a character write-up for Sparrow, who has shown up in a recent game and has been on my mind (but never played) for ages.

Now for the latest news from the Seattle Metroplex and beyond in the Seattle Scream (#94)!   I may hit issue One Hundred by the end of the year!
