April Foolishness as March ends

April is named after the Roman month Aprilis though it is unclear where the Roman name comes from . . .  It may refer to the opening (aperire) of buds and flowers as Spring arrives or in some unclear way to the goddess Venus, to whom it is a sacred month, or something else.  We just do not know, such is the way of history.

April will begin with its usual day of sleight of hand. clever tricks and (hopefully) artful misdirections, however, such tricks are not my specialty, so do not expect anything clever from me.  But I hope to enjoy cheerful cleverness from others.

As is usual, I am participating in the Blogging from A to Z Challenge for April, which I almost forgot to sign up for, the theme will be interesting things about the Sea of Stars.  But if there is anything you would like to see, let me know and I will try to fit it in.

Tuesday Magic Item – Warrior Band

Gollaon and Voddick watched the soldiers drill, moving in close unison, their years of working together obvious.

“I am pleased they are our allies,” said Voddick.

“Truth,” agreed Gollaon.  “They will fight and die, if necessary, together.”

“You noticed that too?”

Warrior Band

Made as set of armbands, between three and six, some are single-use items, usually made of cloth, others are permanent and usually made of metal or other hard-wearing materials.  They are decorated with symbolism important to the group they are made for and all share

Tuesday Magic Item – Multiuse Warhammer

Gollaon tapped their friend on the shoulder.  “Stop staring, just go over and talk to her.”

Voddick looked up at his friend.  “But she is a wonderworker!  She would not want to talk to a mercenary like me.”

“She is running an inn!” said Gollaon.  “She talks to people for a living.  Go!”

“Oh, alright,” Voddick said, standing up.

Multiuse Warhammer

Made first for Icari Diamondblade, a dwarven Wonderworker, as a combination tool and weapon to minimize the number of items she needed, the basic design has been taught, duplicated, and subtly redesigned.  While each of these warhammers is custom-built for its original owner, some have been passed down through family lines, or from master to apprentice, and a very few have been lost.

Tuesday Magic Item – Useful Pouch

Voddick watched the engineer as they dropped bits of stone and a piece of a broken chisel into the pouch at their waist.

Gollaon noted their friend’s interest.  “Something familiar?”

“Yes, the pouch,” said Voddick.  “My cousin had one much like it.”

“Oh, is it a toolmaker?”

“Yes, well reasoned,” said Voddick with a smile.

Useful Pouch

Made of leather, canvas, or other hard-wearing material, sometimes reinforced with metal, these pouches range in size from ones worn on a belt to shoulder bags.  Loose material is put into the bag and later the owner can pull out useful items made from those bits and bobs from the bag.

Tuesday Magic Item – Martial Belt

Voddick watched the troops drill with a critical eye.

Gollaon leaned against the wall and watched as well.  “The file leaders are good,” they observed.

Voddick nodded.  “Also nicely equipped.  If we stick with them, do you think we will get some of that kit?”

“Perhaps,” mused Gollaon.  “They do seem to have a good budget.”

Martial Belt

These belts are made of the best leather, occasionally from exotic creatures, and fitted with metal decorations.

Dragons Feasts and Foods

I have missed the last few, but I will not miss this month’s RPG Blog Carnival, this month is hosted by VDonnut Valley and the theme is Feasts, Foods, and Fancy Drinks.  You should contribute too if you have a fun idea you want to share.

Dragons, as a general rule, enjoy eating and consuming food, indeed it is one of the Seven Tenants of the Draconic Philosophy of Dominae:

Consumption, the strength of the physical form must be maintained.

Naturally, different dragons interpret this dictum in very different ways.

March Shadowrun Campaign News and a new Seattle Scream Prop (#95)

2024 keeps rolling along.  The next live game at Tyche’s Games will be on the Second of March (tomorrow from when I am posting this!); we usually play every first Saturday and if you are in the area come and join in, new players are very welcome.

February saw some Shadowrun play with me CHing the live game at Tyche’s which used the Redmond Action Movie Festival (RAMF) as a backdrop and was great fun.   Also CHed a short online adventure inspired by some fantasy I am reading.  Played in a NorCal and Savanna adventures, the Savanna game was essentially a noir mystery which was fun and interesting but, as played, a slight genre mismatch.
