New Spells – Fever Chain of Spells

27 September, 2011

Feverish Touch
School necrourgy [disease]; Level Curse, Disease, Evil 0, Sor/Wiz 0, Witch 0
Components V, S
Casting Time 1 standard action
Range touch
Target creature touched
Duration One round
Saving Throw See below; Spell Resistance no

The casters hand is enveloped by a pale, angry red aura.  The person she touches is sickened with fever for one round, spell casters find this especially troubling making spell casting difficult imposing a -3 penalty (rather than the usual -2) on concentration checks.

Targets of equal or higher level than the caster receive a Fortitude save to negate the effect.

Fever Chain
School necrourgy [disease]; Level Curse, Disease, Evil 1, Sor/Wiz 1, Witch 1
Components V, S
Casting Time 1 standard action
Range close (25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels)
Effect ray
Duration 1 round +1 round 2/levels
Saving Throw See below; Spell Resistance yes

The casters whips a chain made of pale red energy at the target.  The person hit by it is sickened with fever, spell casters find this especially troubling making spell casting difficult imposing a -3 penalty (rather than the usual -2) on concentration checks.  This effect last for 1 round plus 1 round per two levels of the caster (to a maximum of seven).

A successful Fortitude save reduces the duration of the spell by half, rounding down, which can cause it to end instantly.

Fever Wave
School necrourgy [disease]; Level Curse, Disease, Evil 3, Sor/Wiz 3, Witch 3
Components V, S, M (tainted water) or DF
Casting Time 1 standard action
Range 40′
Target cone shaped burst
Duration 1 round +1 round per 3/levels
Saving Throw Fortitude negates; Spell Resistance yes

With a gesture, the caster sends a rippling burst of angry red energy causing those struck to be sickened with fever if they fail their save, spell casters find this especially troubling making spell casting difficult imposing a -3 penalty (rather than the usual -2) on concentration checks.

Notes: Inspired by the bout of fever last night, which also prevented my from finishing it then.  Also the sickened condition seems underused.
