Dark Future Ahead 31 – News from the ‘Net of a Cyberpunk bent

21 October, 2022

Supersonic BoomAs usual, I have been following interesting dark future, technology and culture related stories that might be interesting to remix and use in Cyberpunk and near future (or even proper science fiction) roleplaying games.

Is this the future of fast food?  The new Taco Bell in Minnesota.  It is fascinating. Now, people who use ransomware are despicable losers, but this article shows how you may just want to be successful enough as a criminal to get paid but not so successful that you attract serious law enforcement attention.

Abandoned amusement parks are always a fun and disturbing setting for an exchange or a meeting and the corporations are not always going to get them right so there should just be more of them in the future.   Here Atlas Obscura rounds up abandoned parks from around the world for your reference and to act as inspiration.

A new way to harvest power from the wind, I am thinking that buildings in the dark future should have these and solar panels all over the roof.

Travel options:

The slow and stately queen of the air, as once again the revival of the airship is being worked on.  Take a look at what they are building.

Or if you would rather travel fast, Boom (what a name!) is working on a new supersonic jet.

Or perhaps a luxury automobile is what you need, Rolls Royce is releasing the Spectre their first EV (electric vehicle) starting at only $413,000.

And for your final resting option, perhaps a water cremation is what you want.  Note that it destroys all traces of DNA and other biological markers.

  1. The link in this sentence “but this article shows how you may just want to be successful enough as a criminal to get paid but not so successful that you attract serious law enforcement attention.” goes to your “Hold Your Ground Shield” Tuesday Magic Item.

    • How strange, I will get that corrected, Thanks.
