April ends, along with the A to Z Challenge, and now into May

30 April, 2024

In the old Celtic calendar, this night signals the change from Spring to Summer, Beltaine.  In the Roman calendar, the month of May (Maius in Latin) was named after the Greek goddess Maia, perhaps, who is associated with Spring.  So, what theme would you like to see for May?  Spring and nature?  The fae and faerie?  Something else?  Let me know and I will do my best to work it in!

As should surprise no one at all, April’s writings were primarily for the A to Z Blogging Challenge, which I am pleased to say I completed, again.  So, the posts for April 2024, are:

RPG Blog Carnival:

Celebrating Favorite Campaign Settings.

New Magic Items: (all part of the A to Z Challenge)

Blue Blood Tea, coordinate your social strategies.

Hellspear, use death to tear a gate to hell.

Nonsuch Gown, hide your identity or reveal it, spectacularly.

Tricorner Hat, slip through angled space.

Yim Stone, breaking down walls.

Behind the Curtain, Kindreds of the Sea of Stars:

These were a subset of the A to Z where I talk about how I adjusted some of the traditional D&D-type fantasy kindreds to fit in the Sea of Stars campaign.

Earthkine and Elves, broken and Lacking, but surviving for now.

Gemkine and Dwarves, building anew.

Sen’tek and Gnomes, failed revolutionaries who still seek their victory . . . and their revenge.

Visse and Halflings, whence come the servants of the dragons and of the Empire.

Other A to Z posts:

Anthuma Spires, ancient stones, perhaps an ancient site of worship.  What can be found there?

Cobalt Cat, an unusual type of cat that eats minerals along with the normal prey of cats.

Diaphanous Willows of Diseri, trees without color but with unusual properties.

Firefrost Forest, a place of beauty and source of wood for starships.

Infezri Caves, through which the hells can sometimes be reached.  And the Infezri Caves Guard who try and keep people from reaching them.

Jaioval Valley, a nearly lost valley.

Kalavant Forges, once the property of the God of Smiths, now owned by the Empress.

Lholika, Sorrow’s Crown, an ancient fortress now known for its library and college.

Moon Maidens, daughters of the Moon.

Onyx Harbor, a Gemkine Port, showing how the Gemkine approach civic building and improvements.

Pantagrulean Pigeons, you would not think pigeons could be dangerous but these are.

River of Kōura, a river rich in food, as long as you like crawfish.

Querying the Stars, do they know our fate?

Uffrani Pools, things wash up in the pools from the sea and from other places.

Windmills of the Wizenzea, using the wind to power many tasks.

Xenomorphic Children, giving birth to a child from a different kindred, how unusual!  But not unprecedented or unknown in the Sea of Stars.

Zoomorphism in the Sea of Stars, people with animal features?  Yes, please.
