Welcome June, Goodbye May and its RPG Blog Carnival

31 May, 2017

June is named from the Roman month Iunius, or Junius, is named in honor of the ancient Roman goddess Juno (parallel to the Greek Hera) who is the wife of Jupiter and goddess of marriage.   The first half of Iunius is a period of religious purification and was considered the most favorable time to marry by the Romans.  It will also be the eight anniversary of this journal, so I may try and do something special for that.

Summer officially starts this month, so, any thoughts on a theme, reader?  Send me your suggestions and I will try to act on them.

This May, the Journal hosted the RPG Blog Carnival with some success and I hope do do so again in the future.  The following article were published here in May, 2017:

Leaving December and the Year MMXVI, Welcome MMXVII

31 December, 2016

JanusJanuary and the New Year and are just around the corner.   Good fortune to all in MMXVII!

January is named after Janus (Ianuarius) the god of doorways, pictured as looking both forward and back.   We will revisit the themes of doorways, transport and travel for January what with moving into the New Year and all.  As usual, if there is something on this theme you would like to see, let me know.

My main goal for 2017 will be to get the Sea of Stars campaign setting finished and out to its backers, really this time.

Looking back over December, 2016, not an entirely quite month:

Into June, May falls behind

31 May, 2015

The name June evolves from the Roman month Iunius, or Junius, is named in honor of the ancient Roman goddess Juno who is the wife of Jupiter and oversees marriage (and equated with the long suffering Greek goddess Hera).   For the Romans, the first half of Iunius is a period of religious purification and was considered the most favorable time to marry, though mine was on the Solstice and it has worked out pretty well.

Summer officially starts this month, so, any thoughts on a theme, reader?  Send me your suggestions and I will try to act on them.

Campaign Pitch – Rokugan SRIU (L5R RPG)

21 March, 2015

A potential short campaign I am seeing if people are interested in.  Using a variant of my campaign statblock.

Rokugan – Special Road Investigation Unit

On the road againYou have . . . made mistakes.  Fallen now from your once noble place in the Celestial Order.  There is a flaw in your characters, one you could not overcome before but you will, this time.  You must.  Someone in your Clan has decided that your are worthy of one last chance, but only one.  If you fail here, you will have to shave your head, walk Exile’s Road or perform the three cuts.  This is your final chance to redeem yourself.  Will you?  Can you?

You are now under the authority of an Imperial Magistrate, Doji Akira, the infamous Cat.  Who know what favors were exchanged for your post as his yoriki?  You must serve and serve well, the alternative is unthinkable.

31 December, 2014

The New Year and January is just minutes away in my time zone.   Good fortune to all in MMXV!

The biggest news for me is that I have started my Sea of Stars Campaign Setting Kickstarter!  Please take a look, download the free adventure and give it your support if you think it is something that would interest you.

January is named after Janus (Ianuarius) the god of doorways, pictured as looking both forward and back.   We will revisit the themes of doorways, transport and travel for January what with moving into the New Year and all.  As usual, if there is something on this theme you would like to see, let me know.

Looking back over December, 2014, we see another month of light but hopefully interesting posting:
