Shadowrun Campaign Pitch – Songs in the Key of X

5 January, 2022

It has been a bit since I have done one of these, campaign stat blocks are a good way to frame a pitch for your group, which is what I am doing here.

Shadowrun – Songs in the Key of X

X by troyakA shadowrunning team works to survive and thrive on the mean streets of Seattle while being drawn into investigating the mysteries behind the creation of ManaWave Technologies and the plans of its CEO, the sinister Dr Shipson . . .

Setting: This will be set in Seattle of the Shadowrun Universe, at least my divergent timeline of it, 2079.  Broad continuity shared with James’ NorCal Shadowrun campaign.

  •   Continuity: Episodic with arcs.
  •   Rating: PG in general, standard nasty corporate stuff and maybe some toxic and other disturbing magic.  Do people want to draw lines (things that are off the table) and veils (fade to black situations) for this campaign?
  •   Style: Crime, investigation with some social and political maneuvering.
  •   Tone: Heist Movie mixed with Investigative television show with occasional shades into techno-horror.

Rules: Shadowrun 6WE with standard house rules.

Characters: Obviously 6WE, so older characters would need to be converted.  Available existing characters:  Anyone from the Total Tempest Tour (T3!), anyone of your characters from, the very short lived, Star Signs game, older characters are a possibility as well but I would need a really solid pitch.

Lastly, an entirely new character is also possible.

I want to do some Powered by the Apocalypse style starting ties between the characters, everyone will know each other and have worked together a few times before.  In other words starting as a team where everyone is a known quantity.

A hacker will be needed by an NPC can fill that role if no one is interested in it.

Where do we Play?: Online or, eventually, back at Tyche’s.  Usually Thursdays.

  •   Down Times: Players are encouraged to have their character undertake tasks between games, communication via email or google doc for such so it does not slow down our limited gaming time.

Notes: The title is taken from one of the X-Files soundtracks, as the X-Files is a decent tone to aim for and I intend to name all of the adventures after songs (mostly from the 80s).
