Tuesday Magic Item – Watchful Peacock Cloak
15 June, 2021“The queen mother’s cloak is quite spectacular,” said Voddick in a voice just above a whisper.
“An amazing piece of artistry and, I suspect, a powerful piece of magick,” replied Gollaon, equally quietly. “It would be a shame not to at least guard all of that work.”
Voddick nodded. “She is rumored to be an amazing judge of character.”
“No doubt improved by her cloak,” smiled Gollaon. “Let us go and make her acquaintance.”
“Is that wise?” asked Voddick to Gollaons back as they were already move to intercept the queen Mother.
Watchful Peacock Cloak
These cloaks are spectacularly colorful, usually mixing actual peacock feather with embroidery, bead work and metallic threads, creating a feast for the eyes. But those observing the cloak have an unsettling feeling of being watched.
The cloak are surprisingly tough and durable, providing a +2 armor bonus to the wearer, that applies to touch armor class as well.
The wearer gains a +5 competence bonus to Perception checks based on sight, raised to +10 to detect people trying to sneak by or away, and a +5 competence bonus to Sense Motive checks, increased to +10 to detect signs of infidelity, and lastly, in non-combat situations, the wearer has a +5 competence bonus to Intimidation checks.
However, the wearer must uphold the highest personal standards and never, ever, submit to the temptations of infidelity. If they do, they lose all benefits of the cloak’s powers and suffer from a curse, the severity of which depends on the severity of the transgression.

Notes: Juno’s portfolio is marriage and one of her symbols is the peacock, so I thought I would riff off of those themes.
