Tuesday Magic Item – Soldier’s Aid Kit
31 March, 2020Gollaon finished tying the bandage on the unconscious soldier and leaned back against the wall. “I am pleased that our employers values their soldiers enough to provide them with these kits.”
Voddick nodded. “A farsighted choice but as they are a republic, it makes sense. Keeping your citizens alive is good policy and good politics.”
“Even dictators should learn that lesson but they do not. Thinking they can expend people without care or repercussions . . .”
“We try to be better people,” said one of the soldiers. “We treat their wounded when we can as well.”
“That is as it should be,” said Voddick and Gollaon nodded.
Soldier’s Aid Kit
These compact kits, usually of leather, contain the minimum amount of material to treat wounds, magically enhanced bandages, needle, cat gut, and perhaps an analgesic in power or pill form but little more. Easy to carry and easy to use.
Used with the provide first aid or treat caltrops (usw.) task, it makes it automatically successful even if the person is unskilled with the Heal skill. A person with the Heal skill can also use it to treat deadly wounds in ten minutes rather than the usual hour.
Each kit is good for only one use before needing to be restocked.

Wondrous item (kit), common
First paragraph as above.
Used with an attempt to stabilize an unconscious person, it makes it automatically successful even if the person even without a Wisdom (Medicine) roll or it will Heal 1 hit point of damage to one who has suffered damage from a caltrop (usw.). A person with the Wisdom (Medicine) Heal skill can also as an action, tend to a creature and restore 1d4 hit points to it, plus additional hit points equal to the creature’s maximum number of Hit Dice. That creature cannot regain hit points from an aid kit (or the Healer feat) again until it finishes a short or long rest.
Each kit is good for only one use before needing to be restocked.
Notes: Keeping soldiers alive is vital and militaries that ignore that to their peril. A fitting item to end March on.
