Tuesday Magic Item – Warrior’s Carnyx

19 March, 2019

Call to war!Voddick had to nearly shout to be heard.  “They do like their horns this lot.”

“It would be unnerving if you were not use to such things,” replied Gollaon.

“Still, better than just standing around in silence, eh?”

“Better than the actual fighting part at least,” replied Gollaon with a grin.

Voddick nodded and grinned back.

Warrior’s Carnyx

The long horns are reinforced and made of metal, suitable for use both as a musical instrument and as a weapon.  They are prized by certain types of warrior-musicians who love both music and battle.

Used as a weapon, it is treated as a great club with a +1 bonus to attack and that deals an extra 1d4 points of sonic damage on a successful hit.  The wielder gains a +4 enhancement bonus on any intimidation check following a successful attack with the carnyx.

Once a day when sounded, the wielder and all allies within 15′ gain a +10′ bonus to ground movement, 2d4 temporary hit points and a +1 morale bonus to attacks for one minute.

Aura moderate transmutation; CL 7th

First paragraph as above.

Used as a weapon, it is treated as a great club with a +1 bonus to attack rolls and that deals an extra 1d4 points of thunder damage on a successful hit.  The wielder gains advantage on any Charisma (intimidation) roll following a successful attack with the carnyx.

Once a day when sounded, the wielder and all allies within 15′ gain a +10′ bonus to ground movement, 2d4 temporary hit points for one minute and advantage on their next attack roll.

Notes: For a more commander’s oriented version see the War Chieftan’s Carnyx.  But I thought one for those who like to get stuck in would be fun too.
