Tuesday Magic Item – Kidney Sling Stone

5 March, 2019

Painful all the timeVoddick looked almost physically pained as he watched the sling stones being handed by use of tongs to the slingers, who avoided touched them as well.  “I am disturbed that we are working with people who would use such weapons,” he said quietly.

“There are terrible but they only incapacitate.  There are worse magics out there,” said Gollaon, though there was not much conviction in his voice.

Voddick shook his head.  “Inflicting unnecessary pain is not our role.”

“But sadly attached to our work,” sighed Gollaon.

“Truth.”

Kidney Sling Stone

These shaped stones are often crusted with odd mineral formations and they have an organic feel to their shape.  They are warm to touch and quickly becoming feverishly hot when handled.

They are treated as sling bullets with a +1 bonus to attack that inflict 2d6 points of damage.  The victim must make a Will save (DC 15), on a successful save they take an additional 1d6 damage, on a failed save they are sickened for 1d6 rounds and on a roll of a natural one for the save, they are stunned for one round and then the sickened condition follows.

Each is good for only one shot, shattering on a hit or miss.

Aura moderate necrourgy; CL 7th
Slot none; Price 407; Weight .2 lbs
Construction Requirements
Craft Magic Arms and Armor, cause disease or enervation; Cost 200 +7 for stone

For D&D 5E:

Weapon (sling bullet), rare

First and last paragraph as above.

They are treated as sling bullets with a +1 bonus to attack rolls that inflict 2d6 points of psychic damage.  The victim must make a Wisdom save (DC 13), on a successful save they take an additional 1d6 damage, on a failed save they are poisoned for five rounds.  At the end of each of its turns, the target can make another Wisdom saving throw. On a success, the effect ends on the target.  On a roll of a natural one for the save, they are stunned for one round and then the poisoned condition follows.

Notes: While I realize it is a terrible pun name, it is partly to take control and laugh at the suffering I am currently undergoing from kidney stones.  So, do not think I am mocking suffering from them as I am there with you.  Solidarity, siblings in suffering!
