Tuesday Magic Item – Journeyman’s Boots

23 January, 2019

nice shoes

Voddick took a deep breath as he strolled through the workshop.  “I have missed the smell of honest work.”

“And ours is not?” asked Gollaon with a sly smile.

“You know what I mean,” said Voddick.

“Indeed I do,” laughed Gollaon.  “But you are right, it is nice to see creation rather than the destruction our work usually brings.”

“Truth.”

Journeyman’s Boots

These boots are strong and well made of the best leather and buckles, the interior is branded with the mark of the guild for which it was made which is sometimes replicated on the buckle designs.  Traditionally, when one becomes a master, they pass their pair onto one of their apprentices.

The boots are made for the journeymen of various guilds, they are nearly indestructible and provide great comfort for travel and repetitive work.

When traveling, the wearer gains a +4 enhancement bonus to resist exhaustion from travel and their ground movement is considered to be 10′ higher but only for distance travel.

When working on repetitive tasks, the wearer gains a +4 enhancement bonus to appropriate craft or profession checks.

The wearer’s feet, only, gain resistance 5 to acid, cold and fire.

Aura faint transmutation; CL 5th
Slot feet; Price 2,500; Weight 2 lb
Construction Requirements
Craft Wondrous Item, expeditious retreat, owl’s wisdom, protection from energy; Cost 1,250

For D&D 5E:

Wondrous item (boots), uncommon (require attunement)

First and second paragraph as above.

When traveling, the wearer gains advantage on any rolls to resist exhaustion from travel and the travel 20% further in a day than their pace would indicate as long as they travel at a normal or fast pace.

When working on repetitive tasks, the wearer gains advantage on any appropriate tool proficiency rolls.

The wearer’s feet, only, gain resistance to acid, cold and fire.

Notes: Another travel themed item.  Guild-based items do not get enough time and this plays to both roles of the journeyman as traveling guild worker and as one tasked with the basic, but still skilled, tasks that they master does not have time for.
