New Magic Item – Conjure Cat Ring

8 August, 2018

Cat RingVoddick and Gollaon chased after the masked thief and for a moment, they seemed to be cornered but then, with a wink and a grin, the thief threw open the window and leapt out.

“It is over eighty feet to the ground!” shouted Voddick running to the window.

“They have tricks,” said Gollaon a split second behind, looking down to see the thief running across the courtyard.  Gollaon sighed and waved.  “We will not catch them now.”

“Truth.”

“Now how to convince the Doge that the thief escaping was not our fault.”

Conjure Cat Ring

These rings are usually broad and decorated with nine cats, sometimes the cats are obvious, in other designs they are hidden and yet others mix the two styles. The wearer of the ring is well regarded by cats as long as they return the favor, gaining a +4 competence bonus to Animal Handling checks involving cats as long as they never initiate violence against a cat.

The ring can provide the wearer with the following effects, no more than one can be used per round:

  • A summoned spirit cat will appear behind a medium sized or smaller creature and provide the wearer with a flanking bonus for one round.  (Free Action.)
  • The wearer gains a +4 competence bonus on an Acrobatics or Stealth check.  (Free Action.)
  • The wearer gains a +4 competence bonus on a Reflex save.  (Reaction.)
  • The wearer ignores the first 40′ of a fall.  (Reaction.)

The ring has nine charges and the wearer gains back a number of charges equal to their Charisma modifier (minimum one) each midnight.  If the ring’s last charge is expended, the wearer must make a Reflex save (DC 20) or lose the ring.

Notes: Sorry this is late, post-GenCon exhaustion knocked me out before I could get it done yesterday.  The ring is inspired by International Cat Day.
