A to Z – Turtle Armor

24 April, 2018

Tough as a turtle“I know it is magicked and calling on archetype sympathies,” said Voddick.

“But you think it looks a bit silly,” finished Gollaon.

“Well, yes,” agreed Voddick.

“I cannot say that I disagree.”

Turtle Armor

These suits of armor are composed of turtle shell magically shaped and reinforced with both magic and nonferrous metal metal but the deliberate echoing of the turtles form is a deliberate stylistic choice in the creation of this armor.

It is +2 half-plate armor that imposes no armor check or weight penalty on the wearer when they are swimming.  When the wearer is taking a total defense action, they gain DR 5/magic, and they can use a single Aid Another action to provide an AC bonus as a free action.

Aura moderate abjuration; CL 9th
Slot armor; Price 5,750; Weight 50 lbs
Construction Requirements
Craft Magic Arms and Armor, bull’s strength, haste, stoneskin; Cost 2,500 +750 for the armor

For D&D 5E:

Armor (medium), rare (requires attunement)

First paragraph as above.

It is half-plate armor that provides an additional +1 bonus to armor class, additionally it or its weight imposes no penalty on the wearer when they are swimming.  When the wearer is taking a dodge action, they gain resistance to damage from to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage from non-magic weapons, and they can use a reaction when a creature they can see attacks a target other than them-self that is within 5 feet, imposing disadvantage on the attack roll.

Notes: I realized that I had inadvertently fallen behind on the A to Z, should have been posting on Saturdays as well I now realize.  Expect to see more posts in these last few days of the month.

Turtle themed item should be more common, so here is a step in that direction.
