Magic Item – Pouch of Hydra’s Teeth (for D&D5)4 November, 2015
“Take this, Pedr,” said the Baroness Zaleska, Master Necrourgist. “It has served me well, now it can serve you. It was a gift from my master, perhaps you will be able to pass it on to your apprentice some day.”
The young visse accepted the gift with a bow. “Thank you.”
“It is more obvious about its cost than many magics, so it is a good reminder that all magic, especially that of death, requires a price of us.
Pouch of Hydra’s Teeth
These leather pouches are extremely tough and rough to the touch. Inside there are (usually) three small objects.
Inside are teeth, when used to draw blood from the user and then cast to the ground, they turn into a skeleton of the creature the tooth was taken from who obey the orders of its creator. If the user spent one hit point of blood, the skeleton lasts five minutes, two hit points gets fifteen minutes and four hit points, a full hour. While the skeleton is existent, this damage reduces the hit point of the creator. When the time ends, the skeleton crumbles to dust and ash.
The skeleton can be of any medium sized, or smaller, creature with teeth. The teeth must have been taken from such a creature either killed by the skeletons created by the pouch or killed by necrourgic magic. A new tooth placed in the pouch takes a week before it can be used and up to three teeth can be in the pouch at once.
If owned by a necrourgist, the pouch can hold up to half their level in teeth (rounded up, minimum three) though any teeth in the pouch beyond three turn to dust if the necrourgist owner is slain.
Wondrous item, uncommon
