Tuesday Magic Item – Bloodgate Bracelet

6 October, 2015

BraceletVoddick gripped his sword tighter.  “Ritual sacrifices never presage anything good,” he said in a low voice.

“I entirely agree,” said Gollaon, equally quietly, his crossbow readied.  “When sent to bring in a simple wizard and one finds such signs . . .”

Voddick nodded.  “One can only hope that one has the right wards.  Wait, do you hear animals approaching?”  He turned to face one of the corridors.

Bloodgate Bracelet

These bracelets are made from gold and silver set with gemstones carved with the images of animals, they are usually heavy and made for a man.  There is always a faint scent of blood around them, though it is not always obvious as the source.

The Bloodgate Bracelet can be used up to three times a day, no more than once every hour, the wearer cuts them self and places the bleeding would against the gem marked with the animal they wish to call fourth.  It costs the wearer an amount of hit points equal to the level of the summoned creature times the number of creatures summoned (maximum of three).  These summoned animal have the Bloodmade template and remains for ten rounds (or a number of rounds equal to the wearer’s level, whichever is higher).

Some of the common arrays of animals, and their levels, are:

  • Hunting, dog (I), cheetah or leopard (III), eagle (I), lion (IV) and wolf (II)
  • Sea, albatross (use eagle statistics, I), dolphin (I), electric eel (III), octopus or squid (II) and shark (III)
  • Urban, dire rat (I), dog (I), horse (II), pony (I) and viper (I)
  • Warfare, dire ape (IV), dire lion (V), wolf (II) and woolly rhinoceros (IV)

If the bracelet is soaked in the blood of an animal (of medium size of larger) killed for this purpose, all of the summoned creatures gain the advantage of the Augmented Summoning feat until the next dawn.  If the being used for this was intelligent, the duration that the summoned creatures exists is also doubled.
