Tuesday Magic Item – Gymir’s Tooth
14 July, 2015“What an odd war-hammer,” said Voddick, looking at it. “Look it has a massive tooth as its head!”
“Hide that, you fool,” hissed Gollaon looking around to make sure none of the other looters picking over the dead had heard. “It is made from a giant’s tooth, I have heard of such,” he said in a whisper.
Voddick slipped it under his tooth. “Valuable?”
“Worth your life if a dragon catches its scent.”
Gymir’s Tooth
The first of these was made by the dwarven smith-venturer Elsain Emeraldsign using a tooth taken from the giant Gymir’s body from the Yotenschlachfeld shortly after that battle. The weapon made from that tooth retained Gymir’s hatred of the dragon that slew him. The shaft is made of dark oak reinforced with blackened steel and the tooth is mounted in a steel harness ending in a vicious back spike.
Gymir’s Tooth is a +2 dragon-bane warhammer that gains an additional +1 to attack against targets with +5 or more natural armor.
While not intelligent, it does retain Gymir’s hatred of dragons, when facing a true dragon, the wielder gains a +6 morale bonus against fear-effects generated by dragons and act as if under the effects of a rage spell and gains 2d6 temporary hit points. However, the wielder cannot back down or flee from combat with a true dragon (unless they make a DC 24 Will save, which may be attempted once a round) and they take one hit point of damage per round of combat, but this damage is not accessed until the wielder leaves combat.

Lovely. An epic weapon is a nice change of pace from your usual flim-flammery and gewgaws. 😉
[…] Gymir’s Tooth – Another non-sword entry, one of very few. There’s an interest back story to this dwarven made warhammer, and it’ll make your hero a bane of dragonkind. […]
