New Magic Item – Serpent’s Tongue Brooch (A to Z Challenge S)

22 April, 2013

Sort of like thisZalaphron was always on the move, running short cons and grabbing what coins he could.  When he was caught out, he always said the same thing, “You knew I was a snake when you invited me in.”

Serpent’s Tongue Brooch

These brooches are silver in the shape of an Ouroboros with an enameled pin that forks at the end.  The silver is warm to the touch and surprisingly smooth.

The wearer of the brooch gains a +3 competence bonus to Bluff checks and once a day, the wearer may Charm Person (DC 13 + wearer’s Charisma modifier) as a free action.  The charm effect lasts exactly eight hours and at the end of the duration, the victim of the spell clearly knows that they have been charmed and by whom.

Aura moderate enchantment; CL 8th
Slot neck; Price 7,500; Weight
Construction Requirements
Craft Wondrous Item, charm person, eagle’s splendor, creator must have the Heighten Spell Metamagic feat; Cost 3,750

Notes: Suggested by my lovely wife and the inspired by the Belle Star’s song the Snake.

  1. The “knowing they been charmed and who by” is an interesting angle.

    • Thank you. It is why most people who use this sort of item are always on the move.
