Otherplaces – Karezold, Echoing Battlefield of (A to Z Challenge, K)

The battle at Karezold was not especially major, it was a simple clash between the small field armies of two rival dynastic forces.  It would have been forgotten except for two things:

First, both sides brought new and untried battlefield magics to the fight.  Each one expecting their new magic to tip the balance entirely in their favor.

Second, it, in some sense, still seems to be going on a century after it began.

Echoing Battlefield of Karezold

On a good day, the battle field is just a field, a rolling plain with grass and a few small trees, seemingly abandoned though much of the area around it is heavily cultivated.  The roadway has been allowed to fall into disrepair and domestic animals are kept from it by a long stone wall.

New Magic Item – Cleaver of Preparation

The highest chef of the Jade Pillar Empire had his personal tools, spoons, pots, pans, knives, all made to his exacting specifications.  But most prized among them was the cleaver of the great chef Xon Li that had been passed down from master to apprentice through the ages.  It was a simple cleaver, its handle polished from years of handling and the blade is stained from use but undamaged and still sharp.

These cleavers for food preparation range from the plain and functional to the highly decorated depending on the tastes of the buyer.  But they are always solidly built of high quality materials.

The cleaver of preparation provides the user with a +3 competence bonus on Craft (cooking) checks and they can manage any preparation work that requires the cleaver in half the normal time.
