More Elves of the Sea of Stars

8 January, 2012

On Friday, I looked at the Elves of the Sea of Stars and their politics.  Today, we will look at them a bit more in Pathfinder mechanics.

In general, use the mechanics for the elves as as written for Pathfinder with the following changes:

•    Earthkine: Due to their close attunement with the natural world, they understand it well.  All elves have Knowledge (nature) as a class skill.
•    Weapon training will vary from elven culture to elven culture.
•    Healing Trance (Ex): An elf may enter a healing trance, this requires a Will save (DC 10).  While in the healing trance, the elf is unaware of their surroundings and must be violently shaken or damaged to come out of it.  The healing trance lasts eight hours beyond the normal four that an elf requires to rest and gives the effect of a full day of complete rest.

Alternate racial traits available:

•    Hybrid Agenda: These elves are strong supporter of the Hybrid agenda and have an easy manner with people.  They receive a +2 bonus on Diplomacy checks. This racial trait replaces the elven magic racial trait.
•    Pruner Agent: Elves with this racial trait grew up in seeped in the Pruner philosophies. They receive a +1 bonus on attack rolls against dragons and humanoids of the half-elf subtypes due to special training against these threats to the restoration. This racial trait replaces the elven magic racial trait.

Elves have not been overly popular in past Sea of Stars campaigns, seeing only four, what they were missing:

  • Twin Brothers who shared one spirit.
  • A scholar who lacked any sense of hunger.
  • A warrior who could not speak or write the elven language, though he could understand it.

All interesting choices and fun to see how they came out in play.

I hope you have found the elves of the Sea of Stars interesting.   If you have any questions please ask.

  1. I like the richness your giving them here culturally.

    • Thank you. I like elves, even D&D elves, but it is hard to find a good hook for them in a setting.
