Tuesday Magic Item – Unswerving Valet
2 August, 2011The wizard was always well dressed, his brass servant followed him everywhere with two massive bags. Considering how badly he treated the living servants, I was not surprise that the only servant the wizard could keep was entirely uncaring about the treatment he suffered at that man’s hands.
Unswerving Valet
These are usually inactive when found, appearing as a stylized hat or coat rack with a vaguely man-like shape. Most are polished brass but some are iron and a very few are decorated. When its command word is spoken, it animates and follows the orders of the person who gave the command word. When active, it is a stick figure-like metal humanoid.
The Unswerving Valet can carry up to 250 pounds, is capable of following basic instructions, laying out and folding clothes for example. If ordered to, it will defend its master (treat it as a small animated object with a speed of 30 and made of metal) but it will not defend itself unless commanded to. If not left with any instructions, it will tidy up the area it is in and then find a corner and deactivate itself until reactivated by its command word.

Notes: I was pondering magic items that would be helpful at GenCon and this sprang to mind.
I love this magic item. Wish I had one in real life.
