New Spell – Spirit Harvest, Lesser

The necrourgist moved among the recent dead, chanting and flashing a crystal on a silver chain.  The bodies of the freshly slain occasionally twitched as the chant hit a high point.  At the conclusion of the chant, he held the crystal high and wisps of twisting spritstuff were pulled from the bodies into the crystal.

At the end of the ritual, 1d6 HD worth of fragments (but no more than the available number of bodies) are gathered and trapped within the gem.  The spirit fragments will be appropriate to the type of deaths suffered.  Up to the caster’s level plus Charisma modifier (minimum total of 3) worth of spirit fragments may be contained, fragments beyond that amount go free and may attack the caster.

The spirit fragment can be released by the caster at any time who can direct them in simple ways but once released they are free, though not being very bright, the fragments may not realize that.  Usually the harvested spirits are later bound to various items or tasks through other spells.

Notes: Figured I needed to write up a spell that would create fragments (such as the anger and fear fragments) which I have been playing around with.
