  • Morale: The thorn dogs are implacable foes, they will not flee combat unless it serves some tactical or strategic purpose.  They are breed as warriors and they will fight to the death if needed.

Royal Thorn Dog
The strongest and noblest of the thorn dogs are drawn into the direct service of the Court of Spring, serving the Royal Guard and as guardians of the palace.  They are immediately distinguishable from their brethren by their larger size and their horns or antlers and their colorful fur. (Inspired by this art by PEarlEden.)

Notes: When I had the idea for the thorn dog,  I did a quick web search for ‘thorn dog’ to make sure I was not stepping on anyone else’s toes.  What I found was the art noted above which inspired the horned royal thorn dogs (which delayed getting these up today as I had to stat them up too).

What do people think of the new monster format with information from knowledge skills and monster tactics?  Is it helpful to understand the creature?

  1. I’d like to repost many of the Pathfinder creations I have found on this site on d20pfsrd.com but I am unclear as to the OGC status of the posts. Would it be possible to include a statement on each post indicating its OGL status, or, alternatively, one statement somewhere on the site that indicates the status for all posts? If it is there and I missed it I apologize!

    –John

  2. Usually the Section 15 area of the OGL license includes a line like:

The Grand OGL Wiki, http://grandwiki.wikidot.com Copyright 2008-2009 Purple Duck Creations; Authors: Mark Gedak, Alex Schroeder, Joel Arellano, George Fields, Yair Rezek, Mike Whalen, Shane O’Connor, Mike Rickard, John Whamond, Bill Browne, Eric Williamson, Slatz Grubnik, Charles R. Wenzler Jr, John Fraser, Jonathon Thompson, Tom.

So that your site can be properly attributed. Do you have such a statement? I want to be sure to credit your site properly. Also, the Section 8 of the OGL says:

“8. Identification: If you distribute Open Game Content You must clearly indicate which portions of the work that you are distributing are Open Game Content.”

Sites like Kobold Quarterly and others have a line like “All content on is hereby declared as Open Content per Section 8 of the OGL” or similar.

I’ve almost got the thorn dogs done linking etc but want to make sure I get you credited correctly.

    • Think I have it done properly now. Let me know if it is usable now.

  3. It looks great. Here is the Thorn Dog post:

I made a few minor spelling/punctuation corrections. If you’d like anything changed I can make you a collaborator on the site and you can edit at your leisure or I can make whatever changes you like. Thanks for creating such cool stuff!

    • My apologies for any errors, but that is what happens when you (i.e. me) write up everything at the last minute.

Sure, being part of the Pathfinder SRD project would be swell.
