New Magic Item – Skirmisher’s Shield
March 7, 2011The young men of Isteri, the younger sons of twelve, thirteen and fourteen, old enough to wish to fight but not old enough to take their place in the front line were given the shields of their ancestors, helms and wolfskin cloaks along with javelins to harry the enemy but not to directly engage them directly.
As always in war, some would not come back but they would not miss their chance to show their bravery and their love of their city.
Skirmisher’s Shield
Made for young noblemen who serve their cities as skirmisher before they are old enough to take their place in the front line. They are usually highly decorated to encourage the bearer to bravery.
It is +1 small steel shield that absorbs 5 points of damage from the first five non-magic missiles that hit the wearer in a day (resetting at dawn). Once per day, as a swift action, the bearer gains a +30′ enhancement bonus to his ground movement for three minutes.
