Tuesday Magic Item – Birthday Brandy
February 9, 2011The three of us met, as we always did, for my birthday. As it was my day, Lothi brought the brandy as I did for Kandor’s and Kandor did fir Lothi. It had been a long day and we managed a light meal before drinking to health and success in the next year.

The apple brandy was pure and strong and instantly restored my strength and inspiration. Again, I felt read to continue our duties . . . even in the dangerous situation we found ourselves in.
Birthday Brandy
These brandies, almost always fruit brandies, are ensorcelled to protect the drinker from birthday to birthday. They are prized by noble families but are occasional bought by those of lesser means for a family member about to embark upon a major undertaking. It is usually kept in three-sided opaque glass bottles with runes of protection gast into the glass itself and the cork is sealed with wax bearing the mark of its distiller and creator.
For its magic to work, birthday brandy must be drunk on the anniversary of the drinkers birth and shared with at least two friends or members of family or both. All who drink from it are refreshed, washing away fatigue and gaining an additional save against any disease or poison that may be affecting them. The person whose birthday it is gains a +3 luck bonus to saves against disease and a +1 luck bonus to saves against death effects, fear and poison for the next year and once during that year they may reroll any save.
