RPGNow/DriveThruRPG Print on Demand

January 8, 2011

As you may have heard, RPGNow/DriveThruRPG have started offering Print on Demand (POD) services on many of their books.  As a fan of RPGNow and POD, I decided to try it out.

Note this is simply a review of the process and physical product (not the content of that product).   I ordered a copy of the new King Arthur Pendragon: Edition 5.1 on 13 Dec.  Now, even during the high of the Christmas season, the book was in my hands on Dec 23 just in time to make it a Christmas present to my wife.

The book is the softcover edition (just did not have the money for the hardcover) and it looks great, as good as any commercially produced product.  The cover does not have the odd texture that PoD products sometime have.  The pages were crisp and clean.  Everything looks good.  The binding may be an issue, as it often is in large soft covers, but overall not a single complaint so far.

If I need a hard copy of a book available through RPGNow, I will feel no hesitation about ordering it through them.
